Description
The geometric Asanoha motif, a six-pointed star, represents a hemp leaf, used to make most textiles in Japan before cotton was imported. This symbol of vitality creates an elegant decoration on the cup, while the different colours give an impression of fireworks in the sky.
Ume, Kanoko, Asanoha : these three cups are decorated with traditional patterns often found on washi canisters. They are available in limited quantities. They are made by Mr Sahashi in the Sabashi workshop, renowned for its traditional and increasingly rare printing expertise. The designs are printed on thin, flexible paper, which is laid over the cup. The designs are transferred by pressure using a damp brush. They are available in limited quantities.
Advices
Not suitable for microwave use or dishwashers. It is best to wash the Asanoha cup by hand to avoid damaging it.
